Laboratory industry veteran John Hazard joins UniPath as chief operating officer

UniPath announced today that John D. Hazard joined the company effective January 10, 2011 as chief operating officer.

Mr. Hazard has over 20 years of experience in the laboratory management. Most recently, he was laboratory manager for Western Pathology Associates, Phoenix, Arizona and prior to that, he served for two years as Director of Operations, Bostwick Laboratories, Tempe, Arizona. Previously, Mr. Hazard served as manager of Anatomic Pathology for Quest Diagnostics, Denver, Colorado, and as Laboratory Manager for Cockerell & Associates / AmeriPath, Dallas, Texas. Prior to that, he was Director of Operations with DIANON Systems, Inc., Stratford, Connecticut where he spent eight years. Mr. Hazard started his laboratory management career at Kyto Diagnostics, New City, New York, where he was Technical Manager for Histology and Cytology.
Mr. Hazard holds a B.S. in business administration/accounting from SUNY at New Paltz, New York and an A.S. in laboratory science from Baylor University, Waco, Texas. He also attended ASCP School of Cytotechnology at the Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Hazard is certified by the ASCP as a cytotechnologist and histotechnologist, and is registered as a Cytotechnologist by the International Academy of Cytology.
