American Pathology Partners (APP) announced today that Tricia Hughey, UniPath's long-standing chief executive officer, became the company’s Vice President of Regional Operations, West effective January 1, 2011. UniPath is APP’s flagship laboratory based in Denver, Colorado.
Robert Mignatti, chief operating officer of American Pathology Partners commented “Tricia has been central to the success and growth of UniPath over the past decade and particularly so since APP’s affiliation with UniPath.” Mr. Mignatti added “We look forward to her continued leadership as we expand our network and laboratory footprint in the Western U.S.”
Ms. Hughey has over 30 years of progressive experience in the administration and operations of anatomic pathology laboratories. Ms. Hughey has been the long-standing chief executive officer of UniPath, Denver, Colorado, which is the largest anatomic pathology group in the Rocky Mountain Region with 20+ pathologists. During her tenure at UniPath, Ms. Hughey has implemented business development initiatives in cytology, histology, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and molecular pathology. Previously, she has held management and laboratory positions with other anatomic pathology groups, including Pathology Partners (now Caris Diagnostics), as well as hospital clinical laboratories.
Ms. Hughey is an active speaker at several national pathology conferences, including The Executive War College (The Dark Report), Washington G2 Conferences, American Pathology Foundation, and CAP. Ms. Hughey has been a member of the Pathology Management Assembly of MGMA since 1985, and was a member on the committee providing recommendations for CLIA 88 guidelines. She was also one of the first non-physicians appointed by the CAP Board of Governors to one of their committees; and she continues to serve on the CAP Practice Management Committee. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the American Pathology Foundation. Ms. Hughey holds a B.A. in business administration and economics from Regis College.
