Michael G. Venrick, M.D.

Dr. Venrick is board-certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology with subspecialty board certification in Cytopathology. He is also board-certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Venrick has spent his career focusing on women's health and new diagnostics assays and is regarded as a thought leader in this area. Dr. Venrick is currently the Medical Director of UniPath Central Laboratories, and a member of the Board of UniPath, PC.

After earning a B.S. degree in biology and psychology from Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Dr. Venrick earned his M.D. degree in 1983 from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver, Colorado. He then went on to complete an internship and his residency at the Letterman Army Medical Center, U.S. Army in San Francisco, California. Following his residency, Dr. Venrick completed a fellowship in Cytopathology at George Washington University, Washington, DC.

Dr. Venrick also served as Assistant Clinical Professor, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and prior to joining UniPath, Dr. Venrick held several positions, including staff pathologist at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

Along with his many affiliations and awards, Dr. Venrick is a member of several professional organizations, including Colorado Medical Society, ASCP, CAP, American Society of Cytopathology, Denver Medical Society, and the Colorado Society of Clinical Pathologist (president 1994-1995). Dr. Venrick served in the U.S. Army and honorably discharged as Major in 1990.

Walter E. Madsen, M.D.

Dr. Madsen is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. His primary areas of interest are surgical pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, urologic pathology, and immunohistochemistry.

After earning a B.A. degree in biology from Colorado College, Dr. Madsen attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Saint Louis, Missouri, receiving his M.D. degree in 1983. After medical school, he completed an internship and his residency training in General Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital. In addition to clinical surgery duties, he performed research on the effect of steroid hormones on sarcoma tumor cell growth, as an American Cancer Society Oncology Fellow.

Dr. Madsen went on to complete a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, Colorado, and a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, with Dr. Louis P. Dehner.

Dr. Madsen is based at Presbyterian / St. Luke’s Hospital, Denver, Colorado, where he is Vice Chairman of the Department of Pathology, and the Director of Anatomic Pathology.

Qinghong Yang, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Yang is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology with additional subspecialty board certifications in Hematology and Dermatopathology.

After earning a B.S. in biology from Hangzhou University, China, Dr. Yang completed graduate work in biology at Zhejiang University, China and the University of Florida, and went on to earn a Ph.D. in genetics from SUNY at Stony Brook (Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory). She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in human genetics at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California.

Dr. Yang received her M.D. degree in 2006 from Duke University Medical School in Durham, North Carolina. She then completed her residency in Anatomic Pathology including a three-month soft tissue pathology fellowship, and subsequently a fellowship in Hematopathology at the Department of Pathology, Harvard Medical School / Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. She has also completed a fellowship in Dermatopathology at The Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota.

Dr. Yang also founded and was the Chief Technology Officer of FreshGene, Inc., Mountain View, California, which was a venture-backed molecular diagnostics company that was acquired by Panomics, Inc. in 2003 which eventually became part of Affymetryx, Inc. in 2007. While at FresGene, Dr. Yang, invented, developed and optimized a new SNP/point mutation genotyping technology with three issued patents. Dr. Yang has been the recipient of multiple scholastic honors and awards, and has been involved in multiple research projects.

Thomas A. Bolton, M.D.

Dr. Bolton is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He is also licensed by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Bolton's areas of special interest include immunopathology, urologic pathology, and molecular biology. He also has additional experience in dermatopathology as it relates to hematologic neoplasms, infectious processes, and immunofluorenscence. Dr. Bolton currently serves as the Medical Director of Palm Beach Pathology.

After earning a B.S. in biology and a B.A. in chemistry from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida, Dr. Bolton earned an M.D. degree in 1980 from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, Florida, where he also completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Following his residency, Dr. Bolton served as clinical associate in General Pathology and Hematology, and later as Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Bolton was also Chief of Microbiology and staff pathologist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, Florida.

Dr. Bolton is active in several professional organizations, including Palm Beach County Medical Society, American Society of Microbiology, ASCP; and also serves as inspector for the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Dr. Bolton is an active member of the pathology staff at St. Mary's Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida, where he is also member of the OB/GYN Committee and the Infectious Disease Committee (chair). He also a member of the pathology staff at Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Jupiter Memorial Hospital, and Martin Memorial Hospital.

Harvey Cove, M.D.

Dr. Cove is quadruple board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology; as well as in Cytopathology and Dermatopathology. Dr. Cove's areas of special interest include cytology, gynecologic pathology, and immunofluorescence.

After earning a B.S. degree from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., Dr. Cove earned an M.D. degree in 1968 from Tulane School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana. He then completed his residency in pathology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California where he also serves as chief resident in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Following his residency, Dr. Cove served as Assistant Professor, Surgical Pathology at UCLA School of Medicine and later as Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, Los Angeles, California. Dr. Cove has been the recipient of research grants and an active speaker.

Dr. Cove is involved in a number of professional organizations, including American Society of Cytology, International Society of Gynecologic Pathologists, International Society of Dermatopathology, Palm Beach County Dermatology Society and American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Dr. Cove is currently Director, Division of Pathology at Good Samaritan Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida. He is also pathology staff member at St. Mary's Medical Center.

James B. Cash, M.D.

Dr. Cash is board-certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, as well as Cytopathology. He is also board-certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Cash's areas of interest include surgical pathology, gynecologic pathology, gastrointestinal pathology and urologic pathology. Dr. Cash is co-founder and President of Eastern Carolina Pathology, P.A. as well as member of ECP's executive committee.

After earning a B.A. degree cum laude from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Cash earned an M.D. degree in 1977 from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, Kentucky, where he also completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Following his residency, Dr. Cash completed a fellowship in Surgical Pathology at Barnes Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri. He then returned to the University of Kentucky Medical School as Chief Resident and Instructor in Pathology, and later as Assistant Professor of Pathology.

Dr. Cash is active in a number of professional organizations, including College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), North Carolina Pathology Society, and the Wilson County Medical Society. Dr. Cash currently serves as Laboratory Medical Director of the Heritage Hospital, Tarboro, North Carolina, and County Medical Examiner for the North Carolina Medical Examiner System.
